This episode premiered on Netflix on 21 October 2016. It’s the story of a company where an application can rate individuals from one to five. the individuals notice each other, they judge the least action. they are therefore monitored all day, at night.
When the episode came out in 2016, it was a total science fiction. the viewers found it revolting, it was scary and unimaginable.

But, today, it is a reality.
The « social credit system » (SCS) that the Chinese government intends to put in place in 2020 looks like the episode Nosedive.
That consists of the attribution of a note to the citizens according to their behavior. It relies on the collection of a myriad of data on individuals and businesses, from their behavior in public transport to their « morality » on social networks, and their respect for the rules of the road. All of this gives an aggregate score that identifies the « quality » of the citizen and deduces the scope of his rights.
Thus, individuals whose mark is too low, would be deprived of the right to apply for certain jobs, to enroll their children in some schools or to take public transport. The Chinese government’s media outlet, Global Times, recently reported that 11 million people had been prevented from flying. 4 and a half million to take the train.
In the case of « misconduct » by some citizens, the Chinese authorities arrogate to themselves the right to deny them access to a certain number of services, benefits to which they are normally entitled.
